For me, a train station represents a place that offers me two kinds of opportunities. At quieter times, I use the waiting time to take a break from the hustle and bustle of my everyday activities and take a short breather. At early morning hours, on the other hand, I use the encounters with many people energetically moving to their respective places of work to motivate myself.

The work I have named “Station” consists of two spaces that are, in a sense, in opposition to each other. A curtain, composed partly of hardened cloth and partly of soft cloth whose color is meant to be associated with human skin, separates the two spaces. In one of the rooms, there is a rubber mat, which is supposed to represent the runway of an airport or a railroad. In contrast, the other room, which contains a chair and a screen with a running video, represents my small one-room apartment in Germany. As long as I stay in this apartment, the television is the only friend I have.

The separation from the outside and the isolation provided by the curtain grant me complete solitude, which I find very pleasant and restful while staying in the room with the chair. The rest in it, in turn, gives me the strength to perform my activities energetically in the other room with the runway.

These energetic activities are represented as movements of the wheels, on the treads of which there are writings. The writings shown by rolling movements on the floor are the words I often use in everyday life for self-motivation.

The 3 m tall girl with a childlike face rotates around herself and welcomes people arriving at the station.
